WAN2TALK? is a chat-based visual novel developed by mirawakestudios and yurinationrise. The story begins on the first day of summer in a small Appalachian town. The protagonist is a community college student with few plans for the break. After noticing a flyer for a paranormal investigation club on a campus bulletin board, they decide to take it and enter a private online forum.
Inside the chatroom, the protagonist meets several strangers who are interested in ghosts, local mysteries, and unexplained events. Nobody knows who created the forum or why its promotional flyer appeared in a town where little normally happens. The main cast includes four possible love interests: Cain, Lottie, Genesis, and Silas. Conversations gradually establish their personalities, relationships, and reasons for joining the group.
Gameplay combines visual novel scenes with a simulated computer and messaging interface. Players read conversations, inspect available information, and select responses that influence individual interactions. The protagonist’s name, username, and pronouns can be customized. During the current version, players can:
Choices affect later dialogue and can lead to different events. The game may also remember certain decisions after a failed route, allowing new details to appear during another attempt.
WAN2TALK? does not use conventional levels. Its story is planned as a series of chapters that will be released separately. The available build contains the prologue, while later updates are expected to continue the paranormal investigation and relationship routes. Future features announced by the developers include character customization, urban exploration sections, and minigames.
The project combines romance with slow-developing horror rather than introducing every threat immediately. Early scenes focus on online conversations, meetings, and the formation of the investigation group, while unusual messages and unexplained incidents establish the central mystery. The game is still in development and is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is intended for mature players because future chapters may include disturbing themes.
