Sabado: Day One is a first-person psychological horror game set inside Kiwi High School. The player controls Jacob, a former student who returns to his old school and begins revisiting memories connected to the building. The word “Sabado” means “Saturday” in Filipino. What begins as a quiet visit gradually changes when Jacob realizes that the school is not as empty as he expected.

Returning to Kiwi High School

Jacob meets Chesa, a former friend who welcomes him and guides him around the campus. Together, they visit classrooms, hallways, the gym, and other familiar locations while discussing their shared past. Chesa appears pleased to see Jacob again, but her comments suggest that she knows more about his return than she initially explains. Notes and environmental details also reveal information about people who previously studied at the school.

How to Play Sabado: Day One

Gameplay combines exploration, conversations, scripted scenes, and short minigames. Players follow Chesa through the school, examine accessible locations, and interact with objects required for the story. The main controls and actions are:

  • use WASD to move through the school;
  • move the mouse to control the camera;
  • press E to interact with characters and objects;
  • follow Chesa to reach the next story location;
  • complete activities such as the basketball shooting minigame.

There is no combat system during the main exploration sections. Progress depends on following the correct route and completing each scripted objective.

Story Progression and Horror

Sabado: Day One does not contain traditional selectable levels. Its structure follows one continuous visit to the school, divided into conversations, exploration sections, memories, and minigames. The available chapter usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes to complete. Early gameplay focuses on Jacob’s reunion with Chesa and their tour of the campus.

As the story progresses, exits begin to disappear and hallways stop connecting to their expected destinations. Jacob also receives signs that someone has been observing him since he entered the building. The final section changes the tone and introduces a more direct threat, ending with a cliffhanger about Chesa’s identity, her connection to Jacob, and the real reason he returned to Kiwi High School.
