Life in Hethereau shifts between regular city routines and investigations involving objects, creatures, and spaces affected by supernatural forces. In Neverness to Everness, the player joins the struggling antique shop Eibon as an appraiser with a second identity: an unlicensed Anomaly Hunter. Residents bring unusual commissions to the shop, creating a steady flow of cases across different areas of the city.

Urban Mysteries and Companions

The game has a continuing storyline supported by separate episodic investigations. Each case focuses on an Anomaly and the people connected to it, while major events gradually explain the larger situation in Hethereau. The player works with companions who possess Esper abilities and belong to different local groups. Personal missions and social activities develop these relationships outside the main investigation.

Building an Effective Team

Combat takes place in real time and allows immediate switching between party members. Every character has a particular set of attacks, skills, and supernatural effects. Combining compatible powers creates Esper Reactions that can increase damage or change how enemies are controlled. Dodging, skill timing, and character switching are required during battles against larger Anomalies and other hostile targets.

The main gameplay systems include:

  •         Story cases about supernatural incidents
  •         Open-world exploration across Hethereau
  •         Team combat with Esper Reactions
  •         Companion stories and friendship activities
  •         Cars, homes, businesses, and city jobs

Missions Beyond Regular Combat

Neverness to Everness is structured around commissions, story chapters, side quests, and special scenarios instead of traditional isolated levels. Some missions involve searching for an Anomaly, entering altered spaces, or defeating enemies. Other stages use different rules. Pink Paws Heist asks up to four players to enter a bank, collect valuables, and escape before time expires, while Coldmount Hospital focuses on hiding from a pursuing entity and investigating the building.

Players can move around Hethereau on foot, drive customizable vehicles, or use the Ghost Train to cross unusual spaces. The city also contains races, delivery work, fishing, mahjong, shops, housing, and business management. Begin by following Eibon commissions because they introduce the investigation and combat systems. During fights, use several characters rather than relying on one attacker, and combine their powers whenever an Esper Reaction becomes available. Between missions, complete jobs to earn currency, explore side streets for optional stories, and improve the team before entering more difficult Anomaly encounters.
