A growing colony of dwarves attacks a living mountain in Dwarf Eats Mountain, an incremental strategy game focused on mining, transport and repeated progression. The dwarves serve the Great Maw, which demands a constant supply of gold taken from the mountain. There is a developing story connected to the Great Mother, ancient gods and the secrets hidden beneath the World Spire. However, most of the game is structured around building an efficient production system rather than following a fixed sequence of story missions.
Players hire dwarves and construct siege machines that automatically attack the mountain. Available units include dynamite throwers, ballistas, flamethrowers, laser cannons, bulldozers, gyrocopters, spelunkers, rune smiths and brewers. Every unit has different strengths, weaknesses and upgrade paths. Increasing damage reveals more gold, but it also causes the Great Mother to respond with stronger disasters, including falling rocks and other hazards that threaten the workers below.
Breaking the mountain is only one part of the process because the extracted gold must be carried back home. Runners collect the resources and move through dangerous areas while avoiding debris. Producing more gold than the transport system can handle creates delays and leaves valuable resources exposed. Players must therefore balance attack power, carrying capacity and survival instead of investing everything into one type of improvement.
The main progression systems include:
Artifacts are displayed in a gallery and change how different parts of the colony operate. One artifact may strengthen a specific machine, while another improves runners, rituals or resource production. Combining several compatible effects creates synergies that can define an entire build. Rare resources introduce additional decisions because they can be spent on different permanent benefits, and choosing one option may delay access to another.
Dwarf Eats Mountain does not use conventional numbered levels. Each run is a growing attempt to damage the mountain, recover more treasure and reach deeper progression milestones. Prestige allows players to restart while keeping upgrades that increase the speed of later runs. Repeating this cycle opens new buildings, artifacts and combinations, making it possible to test different strategies. To progress effectively, players should monitor both production and delivery, respond to disasters, improve weak parts of the colony and select upgrades that support the same overall build.
