Baldi’s Basics Plus is a first-person stealth roguelike developed by Basically Games. It expands the original parody horror concept into a larger game built around procedurally generated school floors. The player enters Baldi’s Super Schoolhouse and must collect every notebook before reaching the elevator. Baldi listens for sounds and follows their source, while strange students, staff members, events, and changing layouts make each attempt unpredictable. The game remains in Early Access, with version 0.14.5 released in July 2026.
Rooms, corridors, notebooks, elevators, and useful objects are placed differently between runs. Players cannot memorize one permanent route, so they must examine the map and choose which notebook to collect next. Some corridors provide several escape paths, while isolated classrooms can become dangerous when Baldi is already nearby.
Running creates noise and consumes stamina. It can help the player escape quickly, but careless movement may reveal their position or leave them unable to sprint during a chase. Baldi’s hearing makes doors, items, and other noisy actions part of the strategy rather than simple interactions.
Other characters follow their own rules and can interrupt even a careful plan. Some force the player into activities, block corridors, change movement, or attract attention. Random events and field trips create additional situations that require the player to adjust the route. During a run, players need to:
Items can provide temporary protection, distract Baldi, open alternative routes, or help the player escape another character. Limited inventory space means that every object cannot be carried at once.
The main Hide & Seek mode is divided into increasingly difficult floors rather than one fixed level. Failure ends the current attempt, but the player retains knowledge about characters, items, events, and useful strategies. This roguelike structure makes repeated runs important because understanding the school’s systems is more valuable than memorizing a single map.
Baldi’s Basics Plus uses standard first-person keyboard and mouse controls for movement, looking around, sprinting, interacting, selecting items, and opening the map. The objective is to collect the notebooks, adapt when the school disrupts the original plan, and reach each elevator without being caught. Success depends on managing sound, stamina, inventory space, and the unpredictable behaviour of everyone inside the Super Schoolhouse.
