Tear Blocks Down is a first-person block shooter that combines combat, simple construction, and destructible environments. Instead of following a detailed storyline, players choose a map and create battles involving zombies, skeletons, archers, sword fighters, and other characters. The game was created by AM-Games and focuses on short sandbox sessions in which the player decides what kind of encounter will take place.
Before starting a fight, players can place blocks and create basic structures around the map. Walls and platforms may be used as cover, barriers, or parts of a custom arena. Characters can also be spawned to fight alongside the player or attack other units. Since many blocks can be damaged by gunfire, a defensive position may gradually collapse during a battle.
Combat takes place from a first-person perspective. Players move through the selected location, aim at approaching enemies, reload their weapon, and destroy blocks when they need to open a route or remove cover. Friendly fighters equipped with bows or melee weapons can provide additional support while groups of hostile creatures advance across the map.
The main activities include:
On a computer, players move with WASD or the arrow keys, control the camera with the mouse, click to shoot, and hold Shift to sprint. The mobile version uses a virtual joystick for movement, screen dragging for the camera, and separate buttons for shooting, jumping, and reloading. These controls allow the player to move between combat and construction without leaving the map.
Tear Blocks Down does not use a traditional sequence of numbered levels. A session may focus on surviving a zombie attack, watching two groups of characters fight, testing a defensive structure, or destroying most of the blocks in an area. The main objective is to experiment with different combinations of units, buildings, and weapons, then take part in the battle created by those choices.
