Snowed Under is an upcoming first-person game that combines snow-clearing simulation, exploration, and psychological horror. Chilla’s Art is developing the project for Windows, with the same studio acting as publisher. The player is placed in a mountain region covered by deep snow and given a visible destination: a steel tower located somewhere ahead.

Objective and Narrative

Reaching the tower requires the protagonist to dig through the landscape and expose the structures hidden below. The reason for the area’s condition is not explained at the beginning. Instead, the story is communicated through discovered objects, buried locations, and conversations with Kai. These discussions continue across multiple days and reveal changes in how Kai and the protagonist understand their situation.

The Main Gameplay Loop

The shovel is the player’s principal tool. Snow blocks movement and prevents access to buildings, materials, and environmental clues, so progression depends on deciding which sections to clear. Scrap can be collected from uncovered areas and spent on shovel upgrades. Better equipment increases digging efficiency and allows the journey to continue without changing the basic goal.

The player’s regular tasks involve:

  •         Selecting a direction through the snow;
  •         Clearing enough space to move forward;
  •         Collecting exposed scrap materials;
  •         Upgrading the shovel;
  •         Searching uncovered buildings and landmarks;
  •         Following clues connected to the mountain.

The steel tower provides a general direction, but players can also investigate areas away from the most direct route. Additional digging may uncover food, structures, or information about previous events. This means exploration has a practical purpose as well as a narrative one. Progress comes from both covering distance and understanding what has been revealed beneath the snow.

Levels and Expected Length

No conventional level list has been announced for Snowed Under. Available information suggests that the campaign takes place across one connected mountain environment, with new days, landmarks, upgrades, and conversations marking the stages of progress. The estimated completion time is between two and four hours, placing the game within the short-form structure used by other Chilla’s Art releases.

Snowed Under has not received a final launch date. Its exact controls, number of endings, difficulty options, and complete upgrade system remain unknown. Based on the announced mechanics, players will need to clear routes, manage collected scrap, improve their shovel, examine buried locations, and continue toward the tower while reconstructing the events behind the setting.
