Pokepath is a fan-made tower defense game inspired by Pokémon team building. The player defends routes from waves of enemies by placing Pokémon-style units along the path. Each unit attacks automatically when enemies enter its range. The main goal is to clear routes, improve the team, evolve Pokémon, and defeat stronger opponents, including Legendary Pokémon.

Main Goal

Pokepath does not have a traditional story campaign with dialogue scenes or a fixed main character. The game is built around a simple defense objective: enemies move through a route, and the player must stop them before they reach the end. Progress comes from improving the team after each attempt. Even when the player loses, Pokémon progress is saved, so failed runs still help the next attempt.

Routes and Team Building

Pokepath uses routes instead of standard levels. The official itch.io page describes 9 different routes, where the player manages a team and defends against enemy waves. Each route can require a different setup, so the same team may not work everywhere. Players can switch Pokémon, test new combinations, and use the PC box to bring back units that were not useful earlier.

The game includes several main elements:

  •         tower defense battles across 9 routes;
  •         Pokémon-style units with automatic attacks;
  •         leveling and evolution;
  •         saved progress after defeat;
  •         team management through the PC box;
  •         Auto Mode for farming while away.

Gameplay and Controls

The gameplay is based on planning before and during each wave. The player chooses which Pokémon to use, places them on the route, and upgrades or evolves them as resources become available. Stronger waves require better positioning, stronger units, and attention to enemy movement. The game also includes Auto Mode, which lets the player farm while AFK.

To play, the player uses mouse or touch controls to select Pokémon, place units, interact with menus, and manage upgrades. There is no direct character movement or real-time combat control. Success depends on building a balanced team, placing units where they can cover the path, evolving Pokémon at the right time, and changing strategy when a route becomes too difficult.
