Similiar games

Photomaly is a first-person horror and management game in which the protagonist inherits a photography studio from their father. The player must operate the business, serve customers, and earn money by completing different photography orders. As the work continues, unusual details begin appearing in photographs and around the studio, connecting the daily routine to a larger mystery.

Managing the Photo Studio

Customers arrive with specific requests concerning the number, format, and type of photographs they need. Some orders require taking a new portrait from the correct angle. Others involve processing film brought into the studio. Players can spend their earnings on equipment upgrades, purchase supplies, decorate the workspace, display completed pictures, and create a wallpaper for the studio computer.

How to Complete an Order

Every request follows a series of practical steps. The player must read the order carefully and prepare the required result without wasting limited materials. The usual process includes:

  • position the customer and take the requested photograph;
  • transfer digital pictures or process a roll of film;
  • develop film using the darkroom trays in the correct order;
  • select the required size and number of copies;
  • print the photographs and place them in an envelope;
  • restock paper, ink, film, and other supplies when needed.

Incorrect sizes, missing copies, or poorly prepared photographs can prevent an order from being completed. Managing supplies is therefore part of the main gameplay.

Days, Anomalies, and Progression

Photomaly is divided into six working days rather than traditional levels. Each day introduces new customers, order types, studio tasks, and story events. Later sections require the player to monitor security cameras and identify anomalies. The camera also becomes a tool for revealing objects, paths, or entities that cannot be seen normally.

The story develops through customer conversations, photographs, computer messages, and events connected to the protagonist’s father. Some later sequences take place outside the normal studio routine and include exploration, pursuit, and camera-based puzzles. For example, photographs can reveal a safe route across an otherwise invisible path or temporarily stop a moving threat. The game has different endings based on how successfully the player investigates the anomalies and completes the required objectives.
