Marvel Tōkon Beta tests how well four fighters can operate as one team during fast tag-based matches. Each side selects four Marvel heroes or villains, although only part of the lineup is available at the beginning of a round. The remaining partners enter the active roster as the fight develops, creating more assist, switching, and combo options.

Three Story Chapters

Episode Mode contains the first three chapters of The Amazing Guardians. Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and Peni Parker form the central group in this section. Comic-style scenes establish their situation and connect the battles. The beta does not present the complete story, but these chapters provide a structured single-player route alongside competitive and practice modes.

Available Battle Content

The roster contains 15 playable characters divided among groups such as the Fighting Avengers, Unbreakable X-Men, Amazing Guardians, Samurai Outriders, and Knights of Doom. Six arenas are included: Marvel’s New York during day and night, Wakanda, Savage Land, X-Mansion, and Knowhere. Players can access:

  •         Ranked Matches for competitive progression;
  •         Casual Matches without ranked pressure;
  •         Room Matches for organized fights;
  •         Versus battles against the CPU or another participant;
  •         Training Mode with practice tools;
  •         Start-Up Battle for learning the systems;
  •         Open Lobby for interaction and matchmaking.

Assists and Stage Transitions

All four team members use one shared Vital Gauge, so switching characters does not provide a separate health supply. At first, the leader handles most of the combat while another fighter supports with assists. Throws, wall breaks, stage transitions, and round results can make the third and fourth characters available. An assist may extend an attack sequence, interrupt pressure, cover an approach, or create an opportunity to switch leaders.

Start by learning the leader’s light, medium, and heavy attacks before adding team mechanics. Use short combinations to confirm that an opponent is vulnerable, then call an assist to continue the sequence. Quick Skills and unique attacks provide character-specific options, while Ultimate Skills consume resources for additional damage. Avoid using assists without a clear purpose because their availability affects both offense and defense. Wall breaks are important because they move the battle into another part of the arena and can unlock more teammates. Practice Mode can be used to test assist timing, character switches, corner pressure, and responses to enemy attacks before entering longer matches.
