I’m Not a Robot! is a first-person horror adventure with puzzle and exploration elements. The story takes place during the summer of 2009. The protagonist is short on money and accepts a suspicious job offered during a brief telephone conversation. The instructions appear simple: visit a specified location, complete a test, and receive $300. After arriving in a dark alley, however, the character becomes involved with a cult operating inside the town.
The assignment provides the main direction of the story. Instead of entering a normal workplace, the player explores an isolated urban location filled with unusual characters, passages, and objects. The promised test gradually becomes part of a larger situation connected to the cult. Information is delivered through conversations, environmental details, written clues, and unexpected events. Dark humor appears alongside horror scenes, while the low-poly 3D graphics reflect the game’s 2000s setting.
I’m Not a Robot! does not use traditional numbered levels. The adventure follows a mostly linear route, but players can leave the expected path, examine optional areas, and make decisions that change the conclusion. Several puzzles must be completed to advance, although they are designed around observation and interaction rather than complex calculations. The protagonist is controlled from a first-person perspective. Movement is used to search rooms and corridors, while the interaction button allows the player to speak, examine objects, and activate mechanisms. There is no combat system or character development tree. Progress depends on noticing available exits, understanding the current objective, and deciding whether to obey the instructions. Searching beyond the obvious route can reveal secrets or trigger additional encounters, including an achievement involving the Bug Police.
